The Château d'Ittenwiller, a historic castle in Saint-Pierre-Ittenwiller, was built on the foundations of a former Augustinian priory. It is an example of the transformation of a religious edifice into a stately residence.
History+
The origins of the current castle date back to 1115, when an Augustinian priory was founded on this site. The complex fell into disrepair until the Bishop of Strasbourg initiated restoration and expansion of the buildings in 1661, transforming them into a castle.
