Château d'Oron
In Oron-le-Châtel in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland, the Château d'Oron stands on a rocky outcrop above the Flon Valley. It is the only surviving medieval castle in the Oron region.
History+
The origins of the castle date back to the late 12th and early 13th centuries. The oldest visible part is the round keep, built in the 13th century at the northeast corner. The residential buildings of the irregularly shaped structure, which has an approximately oval footprint and encloses an inner courtyard, were modified several times between the 14th and 18th centuries.

The Château d'Oron is located in Oron-le-Châtel in the Lavaux-Oron district in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland. It is situated at an altitude of approximately 720 meters above sea level.

Today, the castle houses a museum. A library is also located in the knight's hall, which features a late Gothic coffered ceiling.
