In Labarde, Gironde, Château Dauzac is a historic castle, known today as a winery in the Margaux appellation. It was classified as a 5ième Grand Cru in 1855.

History+

The origins of viticulture on the grounds of what is now Château Dauzac date back to the 12th century, when monks from the Sainte-Croix de Bordeaux monastery planted the first vines. The founding of the winery is attributed to 1740, under the aegis of Count Thomas Michel Lynch and his son J.B. Lynch. In 1855, the Château was included in the newly introduced classification of Bordeaux wines and ranked as a Fifth Growth. In 1865, Nathanial Johnston acquired the estate.
