History+

The first mentions of a fortification at this site date back to 1021. In the 13th century, the Viscounts of Carcassonne transferred the complex to their vassals, the Seigneurs de Termes, who were close to the Cathars. Whether the castle was destroyed during the Albigensian Crusade is not clearly documented.
