Château de Beaumont

The castle is located in the commune of Agonges, in the Allier department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

The main building, flanked by two towers, overlooks a terrace. The courtyard is framed by two pavilions, one being the chapel, the other a billiard room. In 1850, two more terraced pavilions accessible from the main building were added. In addition, there are isolated buildings, outbuildings, a dovecote, probably older, and a hexagonal Chinese pavilion on the terrace.

It was built in 1740 on the site of a medieval castle, of which only one tower remains. At the beginning of the 19th century, Beaumont Castle belonged to François Dalphonse, deputy of Allier, who died there on September 24, 1821. The castle (specifically the main building, the two small pavilions (the chapel and the former billiard room), the dovecote and the hexagonal pavilion, as well as the enclosing wall, its porch and the outbuildings overlooking the meadow) has been listed as a historical monument since December 13, 1978.
