Château de Belœil

To be privately owned

In the Belgian province of Hainaut, the Château de Belœil has been associated with the noble Ligne family for centuries.

History+

The origins of the Château de Belœil date back to 1394 when it came into the possession of the House of Ligne. In the 15th century, the complex was transformed into a family residence. Originally designed as a fortress, the building underwent a transformation in the 17th and 18th centuries into a multi-story castle in the French style, complemented by two new wings. From 1664, a 25-hectare garden was created.
