History+

The history of Boursault dates back to the 14th century, when the lands changed hands between noble families. By the 16th century, a fortress of the Barons of Boursault existed, surrounded by vineyards. This old structure was dilapidated by the early 19th century. The current château was built between 1843 and 1850 by Madame Clicquot Ponsardin. She retired there at the age of 64 and passed away at the château. Her granddaughter Anne de Rochechouart de Mortemart inherited the estate in 1866 and sold it in 1913.
