Château de Brandenbourg is a castle ruin in northeastern Luxembourg. Its history stretches far back, illustrating a development from a wooden fortress to a stone castle.
History+
Archaeological discoveries confirm that a wooden fortification existed at this site as early as the 9th and 10th centuries. The first stone structures were built in the 13th century. In the 14th century, the complex was enhanced with the construction of a chapel. The castle reached its largest extent through expansions in the 15th and 16th centuries. Château de Brandenbourg remained inhabited until the mid-18th century, before it was abandoned and fell into disrepair.

Brandenbourg Castle is situated in the village of Brandenbourg, which belongs to the canton of Vianden in the Diekirch district of Luxembourg. It lies at an elevation of approximately 300 meters above sea level.
