In Soultz-Haut-Rhin is the Château de Buchenek, a historic castle. Today, it houses a museum.
History+
The origins of the Château de Buchenek date back to the 13th century, with an initial fortress structure first documented in 1251. The current castle structure emerged in the second half of that century. Following destruction during the Thirty Years' War, the building was reconstructed. In 1976, the town acquired the property and initiated restoration work. Since 1990, the castle has served as home to the town museum.
