Château de Charly

Charly Castle is located in the Lyon metropolis in the commune of Charly, to the south.

In 1239, the land was acquired in allodial tenure by the Chapter of Saint-Just from Hugues de Chavannes. The castle is said to have served as a residence for Pope Innocent IV between 1244 and 1251. In 1314, the castellany was in the hands of Pierre Miriboilli. Around 1470, it passed by marriage to the Bocsozel family. Various families have owned the fief of Charly. 1559: Thomas, lord of Beauregard, lieutenant general of the king in Bourbonnais, buys the seigneury; he marries Lady Hilaire de Marconet. early 17th century: Claude, son of the previous, ensign of the king's guards, known as the "cadet de Beauregard"; he marries Éléonore de Saligny in 1604.
