The Château de Curton, a historic castle complex, is located in Daignac in the French department of Gironde. It was closely linked to the English crown and today serves as a winery in the Entre-deux-Mers region.

History+

The origins of Château de Curton date back to the 11th century, when Raimond de Curton was first documented as a lord of this lineage. In the late 12th century, Regin de Curton solidified ties with the English royal family through a treaty signed in London. During the Hundred Years' War, King Edward III of England asked the then Lord of Curton, Arnaud, for loyalty and the defense of Guyenne. In return, Arnaud was granted jurisdiction over four surrounding parishes. Later, Petiton and Sennebrun de Curton distinguished themselves as fighters on the English side. In the 15th century, the Château became the property of Louis de Beaumont before being captured by the French and handed over to Jacques de Chabannes, Lord of Lapalice.
