Château de Dracy-Saint-Loup

The origins of the Dracy lordship date back to the 13th century, when the Noyers family resided here. In the second half of the same century, ownership passed to Jean I. de Vergy through marriage, who later sold the land to Pierre d'Ostun. In 1377, Guy de La Trémoille, a favorite of the Duke of Burgundy, acquired the estate and had the existing fortified house restored around 1386. In 1529, Etienne de Romans was the owner of the castle, as evidenced by documents confirming a donation to his youngest son Georges. In the early 17th century, specifically 1611, Tanneguy Le Veneur, a descendant of the La Trémoille family, sold the castle to President Jeannin. He and his son-in-law Pierre de Castille were instrumental in the reconstruction of the castle in the first half of the 17th century, with Mercier serving as the architect. In the 18th century, the estate was used for agricultural purposes by the Talleyrand family. Since April 2011, the Château de Dracy-Saint-Loup has been listed as a historical monument.

Today, the Château de Dracy-Saint-Loup is privately owned and not accessible to the public. Of the original complex, a heavily dilapidated pavilion, two adjacent buildings, and the original portal remain. The central Corps de Logis and another pavilion no longer exist. Trenches with bastion-like corners once surrounded the complex, and the courtyard was enclosed by a wall, with a stone bridge leading to the portal.
