The Château de Dreistein, whose name refers to “three stones” in medieval German, is a castle complex in the French department of Bas-Rhin. It consists of three independent castles built on rocky outcrops, which can now be visited as ruins.

History+

The origins of the Château de Dreistein date back to the 13th or 14th century. The complex was divided into two separate sections before being destroyed in the 17th century. The construction style of the castles, like that of the surrounding structures of that era, is characterized by the use of pink sandstone from the Vosges.
