The Château de Droupt-Saint-Basle is a castle located in the French commune of Droupt-Saint-Basle in the Aube department. It has well-preserved moats and a gatehouse with drawbridges.

History+

The estate was first documented in 1206, when it belonged to Girard, the Lord of Droupt. In 1580, Jean Mairat, the mayor of Troyes, acquired the lands of Droupt and was authorized to construct moats, drawbridges, and walls. A residential building was erected by him in 1586. In 1714, the castle became the property of the Chavaudon family, represented by Pierre Guillaume, the Abbot of Notre-Dame de Mores. He and his brother Etienne-Paul carried out construction work. The Château de Droupt-Saint-Basle was listed as a Monument historique in 1987 and 1993.
