In the French commune of Florac in the Lozère department, the Château de Florac stands. Originally built in the 13th century and renovated in the 17th century, it now houses local authorities.

History+

The origins of the Château de Florac date back to the 13th century, when it was owned by the Barony of Anduze and passed through various noble families. After the Wars of Religion, the castle was entirely rebuilt in 1652. During the French Revolution, the structure served as a salt loft. In the 19th century, it was used as a prison before becoming the headquarters of the Cévennes National Park in 1976 and undergoing extensive restoration.
