Manoir de Florigny

The Manoir de Florigny (sometimes referred to as Château de Florigny or Château de la Florigny) is located in Carquefou, in the Loire-Atlantique department of the Pays de la Loire region, on the northeastern outskirts of Nantes.

It was built in 1910 for Mr. and Mrs. Luguet, metal merchants from Nantes, on a large park near the Château du Bois Saint-Lys. The architect was M. Devorsines. The same architect later used the plans of the manoir as inspiration for the Villa Floridor, a seaside-style villa with decorated timber framing that stands opposite the Carquefou post office.

In 1970 a group of volunteers began using the building for gymnastics classes and childcare. The following year the ALAC (Association de loisirs et d’animation de Carquefou) was founded there. Since then the manoir has served as a local leisure and activity centre.

Unlike many of the older historic châteaux in the Nantes region, Florigny is an early-20th-century residence rather than a medieval or Renaissance stronghold. It remains a modest but locally known building linked to the recreational life of Carquefou.
