The origins of the Château de Hohenack date back to the 11th century when it was built by the Counts of Egisheim. The castle was first documented in 1079. Ownership changed hands, passing to the Counts of Pfirt and the Lords of Saarwerden. A pivotal event in its history was its destruction in 1655 by order of the French King.
