Château de l'Audardière
The Château de l'Audardière in Apremont, in the French department of Vendée, is a castle complex that evolved from a feudal defensive structure to a noble residence and was remodelled multiple times.
History+
The origins of the Château de l'Audardière trace back to a medieval feudal castle. The Mauclerc family owned the estate from the 13th to the 16th century before it passed by inheritance to the La Touche and Puy du Fou families. In 1717, André Serventeau, a nobleman and shipowner from Les Sables-d'Olonne, acquired the castle for 94,000 Livres. It remained in the Serventeau family for several generations before being sold to various private owners in the 19th century. On March 2, 1981, the Château de l'Audardière was designated as a Monument historique. Protected elements include the facades, roofs, the well, the main staircase, the kitchen, the old salon, and a room in the tower with their furnishings. In 1960, the castle served as a filming location for the movie “Les Vieux de la vieille”.
