Château de la Châtaigneraie

The Château de la Châtaigneraie is a 19th-century residence located in Haute-Goulaine, in the Loire-Atlantique department of the Pays de la Loire region in western France. It stands in the Nantes vineyard area (Muscadet), a short distance from Clisson and about 15–20 minutes from the centre of Nantes.

The château was built in 1861. After a long period of abandonment, it was acquired in 2018 by local entrepreneur Gwenaël Vaillant. The estate includes a park of approximately 6 hectares.

Since the early 2020s a major redevelopment project has been underway to transform the site into a high-end tourism and hospitality destination. Construction of a modern hotel with 27 rooms began in the park in early 2023. Future phases plan to rehabilitate the historic château itself as a restaurant, add a second hotel wing with around 61 rooms, and create a large reception hall with a capacity of up to 1,200 standing guests. The project aims to revive this long-neglected heritage site as a venue for accommodation, dining and events.

The château remains private property and is not currently open for regular public visits while the works continue.
