Château de la Forêt

Château de la Forêt, a historic castle in the commune of Thaumiers in the French department of Cher, was originally built in the 15th century and later redesigned. It is now surrounded by an extensive English landscape garden with a lake.

The origins of Château de la Forêt date back to the 15th century, when it was built in a place called “La Forêt-Thaumiers”. Three centuries later, the complex underwent redesign. Parts of the structure and the south tower have been lost. The two remaining wings meet at right angles and open onto a large courtyard of honor, bordered by hedges and lawns. Since December 1979, the castle has been registered as a Monument historique.
