The Château La Freudière is a castle in La Chevrolière, France.

History+

Julien Pépin de Belle-Isle, squadron leader of the naval forces and Knight of the Royal and Military Order of Saint-Louis, bought the La Freudière estate in 1751 from Renée de La Grue, widow of Baron René de Kermoisan de Trésiguidy. In 1765, he had a "country house" built on the site of the old manor house. The plans were then drawn up by the Parisian architect Pierre Contant d'Ivry. This castle was completely burned down in 1794 during the Wars of the Vendée. It was probably at the beginning of the 19th century that Jean-Baptiste Pépin de Belle-Isle, the son of the aforementioned, began its reconstruction, entrusting its management to the architect Chagneau from Nantes. The building was restored again, but slightly, in 1872-1874 by the architect Lenoir. The monument was listed as a historical monument in 1990.
