History+

The monument was registered as a historical monument in 1982. Originally built by an architect of unknown name, the Château de la Guibourgère was extensively redesigned by architects Liberge and Moreau. Of the U-shaped floor plan, only the central part remains, to which perfect symmetry has been given. The recessed wings were destroyed, and outbuildings as well as a kennel and a French vegetable garden were built to the south of the castle.[ref. required] The castle was built on a rectangular platform, which was once surrounded by moats; access was via three footbridges. Traces of these pipe-shaped moats are still preserved today. Access to the property is via an avenue two kilometers long, where a gate marked the eastern entrance to the park.[ref. required] The Château de la Guibourgère is currently in the preliminary design phase of a renovation.[ref. required] It was owned by the Raoul de La Guibourgère families (15th century) and later by the Camus de Pontcarré family (18th century).
