History+
The origins of the Château de la Roche-Courbon date back to 1475, when Jehan de Latour had a first castle built on this site. The area had been inhabited since prehistoric times. In the 17th century, after the Courbon family had occupied the castle for two centuries, a renovation transformed it into a château. Further alterations shaped its appearance in the 18th century. After being sold in 1817, the estate fell into disrepair until Paul Chénereau acquired it in 1920 and initiated a restoration of the château and its gardens. His descendants remain the owners and inhabitants of the château to this day.
