In the French region of Pays de la Loire stands the Château de Lassay, a 15th-century castle. It is known for its well-preserved medieval architecture.

History+

The origins of a fortification in Lassay date back to the 12th century. In the early 15th century, during the Hundred Years' War, the castle was owned by Charles de Vendôme. As he supported the English side, the complex was destroyed by French troops. However, in 1458, King Charles VII allowed Charles de Vendôme's son, Jean II, to rebuild it.
