The Château de Mursay, a 16th-century castle ruin, is located in the commune of Échiré-Mursay in the French region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. It was the residence of Agrippa d'Aubigné.
History+
The origins of the Château de Mursay date back to the 16th century. It once served as the residence for Agrippa d'Aubigné, the grandfather of Françoise d'Aubigné, who later became known as Madame de Maintenon. The castle was classified as a Monument Historique by the French Ministry of Culture in 1952.

The castle ruin is situated in Échiré-Mursay in the Deux-Sèvres department, within the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. It lies at an elevation of approximately 25 meters above sea level, directly on the banks of the Sèvre Niortaise river.

Today, the Château de Mursay is a ruin, its roof having been lost some time ago. The commune has acquired the castle to prevent its further decay.
