The Château de Ressouches is a castle located in the French commune of Chanac in Lozère. The castle was listed on the supplementary inventory of Historic Monuments in 1971, a protection that extended to all buildings and the garden in 1992.

Location+

The castle is located in the commune of Chanac, in Lozère, the former province of Gévaudan. It is situated below, to the west, of the village of Chanac, on the right bank of the Lot, at the water's edge.

History+

The village of Chanac had one or two castles built by and for the kings of Aragon. This domain, however, was under the domination of the bishops of Mende. Thus, we learn that a manse (small feudal domain constituting an agricultural exploitation unit), property of the bishops, was located in Ressouches in the 13th century.
