History+
The origins of the Château de Rivieren date back to the 13th century, when it was built by the Lords of Rivieren from Aarschot. Over time, the property changed hands and later came into the possession of Gérard-François de Villegas, a grandson of Franz II of Kinschoot. In the 18th century, the castle fell into disrepair, but a descendant of the Villegas family, Count Ulric, undertook its renovation and saved the structure from further decay.
