The Château de Ternay, a castle complex in the historic province of Poitou, combines architectural elements from several centuries.

History+

The origins of the Château de Ternay date back to the 12th century, with the current structures primarily being the result of building campaigns between the 15th and 17th centuries. It served as the ancestral seat of the Aviau de Ternay family. Charles Louis d'Arsac, Chevalier de Ternay (1722–1780), was born here. He escorted French troops under Rochambeau to support the American Revolution. He succumbed to a fever and was buried in Newport, Rhode Island.
