Château de Vaillac

The Château de Vaillac, a castle in the French Lot department, combines architectural elements from four centuries.
History+
The castle's origins date back to the 13th century when it was first built. Its existence is also documented during the Hundred Years' War. After a period of decay, a reconstruction was undertaken in 1597 by Anne de Montberon, the then lady of Vaillac. For the artistic design, commissions were given to Mathieu Jacquet de Grenoble, a royal sculptor. In the 16th century, the castle was also associated with Galiote de Genouillac, a figure who held ecclesiastical offices at a young age and reformed her order.
Location+
The Château de Vaillac is located in the former commune of Vaillac, now part of Cœur-de-Causse, in the Lot department in the Occitanie region, France. It stands at an elevation of approximately 311 meters above sea level.
