The Château de Villerouge-Termenès, a medieval castle ruin, is situated in the village of Villerouge-Termenès in the Aude department of the Occitanie region, France. As the former seat of an administrative district of the Archbishopric of Narbonne, it played a role in the region's defense and administration.

History+

A first mention of a castle at this location dates back to 1110. The complex belonged to the Archbishopric of Narbonne, which had to defend itself against local attackers and bands. In the 13th century, its task expanded to include protecting the Catholic faith against the Cathar movement.
