History+

In the 13th century, the Château de Wangenbourg was built on the site of an existing fortification by the Lords of Wangen. The castle was first mentioned in a document from the Andlau monastery in 1357. During the 14th century, the castle gradually fell into disrepair. Between 1535 and 1550, the castle was rebuilt. In 1680, the castle was occupied by French troops, and by 1702, it was destroyed.
