Château des Guilhem

The origins of the Château des Guilhem date back to the late 11th and early 12th centuries, when it was built for the lords of Clermont-l'Hérault, the Guilhem family. Its exposed location allowed control over the Hérault Valley and trade routes. Although the castle offered shelter to the population during turbulent times, its decline began in the 16th century. This circumstance saved it from destruction by Cardinal Richelieu. Initial preservation work was carried out in 2007.
