History+

The origins of the Château des Rohan date back to 1274, when Rudolf von Habsburg had a moated castle built, which served as an integral part of the city's fortifications. During the Thirty Years' War, the castle suffered severe damage in 1632. It acquired its current appearance in 1673 under the aegis of Franz Egon von Fürstenberg, then Bishop of Strasbourg.
