History+

The origins of the estate date back to 1487, when François de Beaumont, a knight and Seigneur du Boys de Sanzay, acquired the land from the Abbey of Saint Laon de Thouars. The central building of the castle was constructed in the 15th century. Further additions were made to the structure during the 18th century.

The Château du Bois de Sanzay is situated in the commune of Saint-Martin-de-Sanzay in the Deux-Sèvres department, which belongs to the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. It is located at an elevation of approximately 49 meters above sea level.
