The Château du Bousquet is a historic castle located in the French commune of Arcambal in the Lot department, with a well-preserved medieval silhouette.

History+

The origins of the Château du Bousquet date back to the 11th century, from which the unaltered keep originates. In the 13th, 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries, the castle underwent various alterations. A legend that describes the Château as a former commandery of the Knights of Malta is not accurate, but it is documented that one of the former lords of the castle was indeed a Knight of Malta. The castle was damaged by fires three times.

The castle is situated on a promontory dominating the Lot River, in the commune of Arcambal in the Lot department, Occitanie region, France. Its elevation is approximately 121 meters above sea level.
