In the Grand Est region of France, at approximately 382 meters above sea level, stands the castle ruin Château du Freudeneck.
History+
The origins of the Château du Freudeneck date back to the late 13th century, when it was built by the Dicka family. A fire in 1408 reduced the castle to rubble, but it was subsequently rebuilt. The fortress met its end towards the close of the 15th century, when it was destroyed again after a series of attacks and was not rebuilt thereafter.
