Château Ducru-Beaucaillou

Vineyard

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, located in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, in the French department of Gironde, is a winery in the Bordeaux region and was classified as a "Deuxième Grand Cru Classé" as early as 1855.

History+

The origins of the estate lie in the division of the Barony of Beychevelle. In 1795, Bertrand Ducru acquired the Château. An anecdote suggests that the classification of 1855 was due to the fact that wine from Ducru-Beaucaillou was continuously served during the classification committee meetings. In 1866, ownership transferred to the Johnson family for one million francs, who sold it to Desbartes de Burke in 1928. Since 1941, the estate has been owned by the Borie family.
