In Beaugency, in the French region of Centre-Val de Loire, stands Château Dunois. It was the residence of Jean de Dunois, a companion of Joan of Arc.

History+

The castle was built by Jean de Dunois, also known as the Bastard of Orléans, after he became lord of Beaugency through marriage. He resided in the castle from 1440 to 1457 before moving his residence to Châteaudun. Until 1789, the estate remained in the possession of the Dunois-Longueville family, after which it stood empty. It served as an asylum for the poor and later as a holiday colony, before finally housing the Musée de l’Orléanais.
