History+
The origins of Château Giscours date back to around 1330, when a fortified keep was mentioned. In 1552, the estate was sold, with viticulture already being practiced on the grounds. King Louis XIV is said to have appreciated the wine from the estate. After the French Revolution in 1789, when the property of the Saint-Simon family was confiscated, the estate changed hands multiple times. The Parisian banker Comte de Pescatore had the current château built in 1847 to host Eugénie de Montijo. In 1855, Château Giscours was classified as a Troisième Grand Cru Classé.
