In Antibes, the Château Grimaldi now functions as a museum, maintaining a connection to one of the 20th century's greatest artists. Situated directly on the coast, it combines medieval history with cultural significance.

History+

The origins of Château Grimaldi date back to the 12th century. From 1385, it served as a residence for the Grimaldi family. In 1608, under King Henri IV, the estate became property of the French Crown. The building fulfilled various roles, including governor's seat, town hall, and barracks. In 1925, the castle was transformed into the Musée Grimaldi. A formative period occurred from July to December 1946, when Pablo Picasso established his studio here. He bequeathed 23 of his works to the municipality.
