History+
The origins of Château Gruaud-Larose date back to 1757, when Pastor Gruaud acquired three adjacent plots on the high plateau of Saint-Julien-Beychevelle and consolidated them into a single estate named Château Gruaud. Later, his nephew, Sébastien Larose, renamed the property Château Gruaud-Larose. Following Gruaud's death, the estate was divided into two separate entities, Gruaud-Larose-Sarget and Gruaud-Larose-Faure. It was not until 1934 that Désiré Cordier managed to reunite the two estates through acquisition. For decades, the 82-hectare property was the flagship of the Cordier wine trading group. However, economic difficulties led to its sale to the Bernard Taillan group in 1997.
