Château Lafon-Rochet

The origins of the estate date back to April 30, 1557, when Janot Bernard de Leyssac acquired the Fief de la Vallée Roussillon. He expanded his property and had his house fortified in 1563. After his death, his daughter Françoise inherited the estate, which she later passed on to her daughters. A part, known as Rochette, went to Adrianne de Lahaye. Through her daughter Antoinette, the estate came into the possession of Etienne de Lafon, a member of the Parliament of Bordeaux. After Antoinette's death in 1700 and legal disputes, Etienne received a smaller part of the estate, corresponding to today's Lafon-Rochet. He promoted viticulture on the property. After Etienne's death, his son Pierre and later his widow Marguerite with her son Jean managed the estate.
