The Château-Rocher is a castle ruin located in the French Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It was built to secure a river crossing.

History+

The origins of Château-Rocher date back to the 13th century. At that time, the castle was built by the Bourbons to protect the bridge of Menat, which was the only way to cross the river between Ébreuil and Châteauneuf-les-Bains. During the 18th century, the complex was abandoned and fell into ruin. Since January 20, 1913, Château-Rocher has been protected as a Monument historique.
