The remains of the Castle can be visited
Châteaux de Lastours

In the southern foothills of the Montagne Noire in the French region of Occitanie, the Châteaux de Lastours are a collection of four castle ruins. These structures, once a center of the Cathar movement, are situated above the Orbiel River.
History+
The origins of the Châteaux de Lastours date back to the 11th century when they were owned by the Lords of Cabaret, a family who made the site a center for the Cathars. During the Albigensian Crusade between 1209 and 1229, the last lord, Pierre Roger de Cabaret, surrendered his property without a fight to Simon de Montfort. The Tour Régine was likely constructed after the Albigensian Wars around 1260, symbolizing the victory of the Northern French crown. Since 1905, the ruins have been recognized as historical monuments.
Location+
The Châteaux de Lastours are located in the commune of Lastours in the Aude department, in the Occitanie region of France. The ruins are situated at an altitude of approximately 274 meters above sea level, about two kilometers on foot from the village of Lastours.
