History+
The origins of Clonmore Castle date back to the late 13th century. In 1332, the complex was owned by Sir Anthony de Lucy, who significantly contributed to its expansion. The castle later changed hands several times: in 1516, it belonged to the Earl of Kildare, and in 1598, to the Earl of Ormond. Its fate was sealed in 1650 when Colonel Hewson destroyed the castle, reducing it to its current ruined state.
