Conna Castle
Conna Castle is a ruin in County Cork, Ireland. The remains of the fortress are linked to Irish noble families and English settlers.
History+
Conna Castle was erected in 1554 by the Fitzgeralds, known as the Earls of Desmond. Later, the castle was confiscated by the English, who appointed Walter Raleigh as its administrator. A descendant of the original owners, James FitzThomas, also known as The Sugán Earl, attempted to reclaim the estate but failed and was imprisoned in the Tower of London. In 1653, the castle was severely damaged by a fire, killing three daughters of the steward.

The ruin of Conna Castle is in the village of Conna in County Cork (Corcaigh) within the Irish province of Munster (An Mhumhain). It stands at an elevation of approximately 31 meters above sea level.
