Dalberger Manor

The Dalberger Hof is a listed cultural monument in Bensheim on the Bergstraße. It is an old noble court of the Dalberg family.

The Dalberger Hof is located at Dalberger Gasse 15, directly on the northwestern former city wall of Bensheim. Parts of the old city wall were incorporated into the noble court. The Parktheater, which abuts parts of the building, is directly adjacent to the building. The Dalberger Hof was probably built in 1586/87, together with the city wall tower, which has since been integrated into the building. The former owners of the court, the Dalberg family, had possessions in Bensheim since the 15th century. Over the course of history, the Dalberger Hof was rebuilt several times and used in various ways. For example, Protestant services were held there from 1852 until the inauguration of St. Michael's Church in 1863. A Protestant school was established in 1858. In 1866, the Dalberger Hof then passed into the possession of the city of Bensheim, which used the building as a customs office for a long time. The conversion into a restaurant took place in the 1950s. On the upper floor of the building, the so-called Wappensaal (Coat of Arms Hall) was redesigned by Franz Freyer as part of the renovation measures. The hall is used for various events. For a time, the Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring was awarded at the Dalberger Hof.
