Dalberger Hof Manor

The history of Abenheim dates back to 932, when it became property of Fulda Abbey through a royal donation. In the early 13th century, the Counts of Leiningen received parts of the Abenheim estates as a fief. Later, in 1275, the estates passed to the Counts of Nassau through marriage, who mortgaged Abenheim multiple times. Other noble families, such as the Counts of Sponheim, also acquired possessions in Abenheim in the 14th century, before the site returned to Fulda Abbey in 1358 through repurchase. A documentary mention of the castle itself dates from the first half of the 15th century, though it was a smaller residential and defensive structure. In 1473, the Knights of Wachenheim handed over parts of the complex to Wolf II.
