Dominican Monastery

The Dominican Monastery in Landshut, a formerly spiritual institution, is located in the Bavarian city of Landshut and today houses the administration of Lower Bavaria.

The Dominican Monastery, dedicated to Saint Blaise, was founded in 1271 by Duke Heinrich XIII of Lower Bavaria. The monastery church was consecrated in 1386. Between 1747 and 1749, the complex underwent a redesign in the Rococo style, with Johann Baptist Zimmermann creating the frescoes. In 1800, the monastery became the property of the University of Landshut and initially served the Georgianum seminary. From 1802, the premises were used for general university lectures.
