On the coast of the Isle of Skye in the Scottish Highlands lies the ruin of Dunscaith Castle.
History+
The origins of Dunscaith Castle lie with the Clan MacDonald of Sleat. In the 14th century, the castle passed into the possession of Clan MacLeod, but shortly thereafter it changed hands to the MacAskills. In the 15th century, it returned to the MacLeods. King James I of Scotland conquered the castle in the 15th century, but the MacDonalds were allowed to retain ownership. The castle was finally abandoned by them in the early 17th century.
